R.Braybrook - The trouble with enthusiasts
"... the strangest undercarriage is ... that of the F-18 A Hornet." As this photograph clearly shows, the mainwheels are so far aft that this almost qualifies as a tailwheel undercarriage, at least so far as weight distribution is concerned.
"The ... ventral Hawk airbrake was added virtually as an afterthought." Like the airbrake on the Hunter, and as this illustration clearly indicates, it cannot be used in landing, because of lack of ground clearance.
