Photographs from John Visanich showing the DC-3, ex-SU-BFY of Pyramid Airlines and re-registered PH-DDZ for the Dutch Dakota Association. The photographs were taken at Luqa on 7 May 1987, on which day it was flown for the first time with its Dutch registration.
Following upon our publication of an article in the May 1987 issue describing flying training in Switzerland, Christopher Donnet provides this photograph of a high-visibility scheme applied to a Vampire Mk 6, J-1107 (built by F+W at Emmen in 1951). It is in service with the Zielfliegerkorps (Target-towing Service) at Sion - a unit commanded by Major Veli Bodmer, who also flies A310s with Swissair.
An F8F-2 Bearcat (shown) and an F9F-5 Panther - two Grumman fighters that are aesthetically pleasing to reader Mike Booth, if not to our modelling editor.
This Portuguese C-212 Aviocar, with MAD boom, is in service with Esq 401 at BA-1.
