F.4 Rondone

The prototype Rondone (Swift) was built at the C.V.V., Milan, but production aircraft were built by Societa Aeronautica Italiana, Ing. A. Ambrosini & Co from 1951. The F.4 was a two-seater powered by a 65hp Walter Mikron but most of the production batch of ten were fitted with Continental C-85 or C-90 engines. One F.4 Rondone achieved a world record speed of 169mph over 100 km on 90hp, though the more normal maximum was about 155mph.
The F.4 was developed into the three-seat F.7 Rondone II in 1954. Only the aircraft have been traced, the earlier 'missing' c/ns presumably belonging to other Ambrosini production or simply not used.

F. 7 Rondone II

The three-seat version of the F.4 featured additional cabin windows in the 26" longer fuselage and a Continental C-90 as standard powerplant. Several were later fitted with 100hp O-200 engines, one with a C-85. Ten Rondone IIs were built by Legnami Pasotti S.p.A. and one further example was apparently converted from an earlier F.4.
