Hellcat KE209 is preserved by the FAA Museum at Yeovilton. It remained in service as late as April 1953 when it was flown by Capt A. J. Ivors the CO of Royal Naval air station Lossiemouth.
The Grumman Hellcat was supplied to the FAA in large numbers and was originally known by that service as the Gannet. A total of 1,182 Hellcats was allocated to the FAA and the type first entered service with No 800 Sqn on July 1, 1943. Hellcats served with the British Pacific Fleet in the Far East.
