Doug Arnold's newly restored Westland Lysander, V9281, crashed just after taking off from Halfpenny Green on August 21st, 1983. The upper fuselage frame was crushed, the engine bearers buckled and the propeller shaft bent.
On show at the Experimental Aircraft Association's Fly-In at Oshkosh in August 1983 was Carl Swanson's Halberstadt D.IV reproduction, powered by a 150 h.p. Spanish ENMA Tigre G.IVB inverted engine turned upright. Carl is now building his second Sopwith Triplane.
Heath Parasol G-AFZE, owned by Desmond St Cyrien, has been given temporary hangarage at Old Warden, where it was in evidence at the Military Air Pageant on July 31, 1983.
