A.Warnes - Aeroexpo 08 /Airshow report/
This Gendarmerie SA 330L, based at Rabat-Souissi, is one of six used for search and rescue.
This Royal Moroccan Air Force Alpha Jet participates in the Al Ghait (Rain Making) programme. The aircraft has a modified nose to house a meteorological radar and can fire silver iodide cartridges from its flare dispensers into cumulous cloud to increase the amount of rain the country receives during the summer months. It is claimed that this process results in a 10-20% increase in rainfall.
One of the stars of the static display was this Royal Moroccan Air Force F-5E Tiger III. The type has been upgraded, which has led the air force to rename these aircraft from Tiger II to Tiger III. The F-5E is pictured leaving the airshow for its base at Meknes (Base Aerienne 2).
