P.Dubois - Atlantic Airways - Faroes' Lifeline /Commercial/
Atlantic Helicopters operates a scheduled service linking 12 of the Faroe Islands, of which only Vagar has a runway - the others have helipads. This passenger has just arrived on Bell 212, OY-HMB, on the island of Koltur, which is home to only two families.
Atlantic Airways originally painted its aircraft in the colour scheme worn by this BAe 146. The airline opted to adopt its current livery in 1999.
Atlantic Airways fixed-wing fleet comprises seven BAe 146s and Avro RJs, which operate from Vagar Airport in the Faroe Islands and provide vital overseas connections. Three of the airline's aircraft are pictured in front of Vagar's terminal building.
Bell 412EP, OY-HSR, is assigned to search and rescue duties and is specially equipped for this role. Atlantic Helicopters is hoping the meet the demand to transport workers to offshore oil installations, that are about to start drilling for oil, by ordering an AW139.
