Регистрационный номер: G-AHBV [2], G-AHBW [3], VH-EAV [3] Two of Silver City's several Avro Lancastrians photographed early in 1947. Nearer the camera is G-AHBV City of Canberra, delivered new to the company in October 1946. Behind is G-AHBW City of London, delivered at the same time. Both were used mainly for charters between England, the Far East and Australia. The company sold 'BV in March 1949, 'BW having already been disposed of in January the previous year.
Silver City Lancastrian 3s G-AHBV and G-AHBW were based at Dunsfold.Самолёты на фотографии: Avro Lancastrian / Type 691 - Великобритания - 1945

Регистрационный номер: G-AHBW [3], VH-EAV [3] Silver City's Avro Lancastrian G-AHBW at Mascot, Sydney in 1947. Lancastrians were demilitarized Lancaster bombers fitted with nose and tail fairings in place of gun turrets. Though a Lancaster bomber could carry a concentrated pay load of up to 20,000lb - the equivalent of around 200 passengers - the restricted space of the Lancastrian's fuselage reduced passenger accommodation to 13 souls.

Most Lancastrians were powered by four 1,635 h.p. Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the noise of which caused much misery for the passengers.

The attendance of the Rumbold van would suggest that the aircraft's seating was being changed for the next flight. This aircraft was later sold to Qantas and became VH-EAV.

Whilst most passenger luggage was carried in the nose compartment, heavier items such as spares could be carried in the “bomb bay".
