25 января 2020г. в аэропорту Пейн Филд (Эверетт, шт. Вашингтон, США) поднялся в воздух Boeing 777-9, первый из семейства Boeing 777X. Самолет пилотировали командир корабля Вэн Чейни (Van Chaney) и второй летчик Крейг Бомбей (Craig Bomben). Пробыв в полете 3 ч 51 мин, они благополучно приземлились в аэропорту Боинг Филд (Сиэтл). Новый лайнер стал самым большим двухмоторным самолетом в мире: его длина - 77 м, размах крыла - 72 м, максимальная пассажировместимость - 600 человек, а в стандартной трехклассной компоновке он может перевезти 387 человек на расстояние почти 15500 км. Восемь авиакомпаний уже заказали 326 экземпляров самолетов этого семейства. Старт поставок запланирован на 2021 г.
