The first Hawk 53 of eight ordered by the Indonesian Armed Forces - Air Force. Deliveries began in September 1980.

The company demonstrator Hawk 50 has been much used for the development of weapons load carrying and for the aerodynamic refinements described in this account; it is shown here carrying four 1,000-lb (454-kg) and four 500-lb (227-kg) bombs on twin carriers on the four wing hardpoints, plus the centre-line gun pod.
