The eight Su-30MKIs were a mix of HAL- and Russian-built examples, with SB042 being one of the latter. Two Litening III pods were deployed with the aircraft and transferred around the fleet as required. One of the pods is seen here under the starboard fuselage.

In addition to providing the logistic support on the journey from India, the sole Il-76MD flew re-supply missions and carried Indian special forces during the actual Red Flag exercise.
