A control tower with Auster Autocrat G-AHCM and a Royal Navy Seafire. There is a plan on the side of the tower but it does not seem to tie in with an airfield we can identify.

P.74 rotor blade aerofoil tests were carried out on a Sikorsky R-4B, converted to drive a whirling arm on which the test sections were mounted.
From Cliff Minney comes this photograph and drawing of the Hoverfly I used for testing rotor blades with tip jets. The aircraft, KK990, is in the well-protected rotor spinning bowl at Luton and was used for static tests only, no attempt being made to fly it.

The photograph was sent in by Mr.L.B. Parkinson and depict the Fane F.1/40 Flying Observation Post. The design is basically that of the Comper CF-1 Scamp whose development was cut short by the death of Nick Comper in June 1939.

Captain Gerald Fane continued development at Fane Aircraft in Norbury, near Croydon, and it emerged with a single-boom fuselage in place of the twin-boom Scamp. First flight was in March 1941 and serial T1788 was allocated but the Air Ministry adopted the Taylorcraft D as the standard AOP type. It was not flown under RAF marks which appear to have related to the Scamp.
