Typhoon IB (DN406) of No 609 Squadron based at Manston early in 1943. This aircraft, nicknamed ‘Mavis’, had a score of 18 locomotives stencilled on its fuselage and, while flown by Flg Of L W F “Pinky” Stark, destroyed an Fw 190 engaged in a Jabo attack on London on 12 March 1943.

Typhoon IB (EJ914) of No 3 Squadron based at West Malling. This aircraft, flown by Plt Off Inwood, was one of five aircraft shot down by Bf109Gs of I/JG 27 during an early morning attack on Poix airfield on 18 May 1943.
