    Registered C-GXUO in Canada, this Cavalier F-51D had served in the Bolivian Air Force as FAB-506. Its cockpit plate showed that this aircraft had been remanufactured by Cavalier in November 1967 and had the USAF serial 67-22580, but the tall fin had been replaced with a standard unit by the time of its return to Canada.

    The Cavalier Mustang II on its first flight in December 1967. Reinforcement of the rear fuselage by an external longeron strap is visible in this photo; the wing structure was also beefed up with two additional outer spars, to allow six hardpoints to be fitted.

    Bolivia was a recipient of the Cavalier-built F-51Ds bought by the USAF in 1967. Several of these aircraft turned up in Canada a few years ago, apparently in a deal involving the supply of CAF surplus T-33s to Bolivia, and they then acquired Canadian civil registrations.

    The first of two prototypes of the Piper Enforcer completed at Lakeland, Florida, in 1983, under USAF contract. Although still a Mustang visually, the Enforcer has little of the original North American design left, with its new engine, longer fuselage, enlarged tail unit and strengthened wing.
