  • Регистрационный номер: G-EBME

DH60 G-EBME c/n 193 won the 1927 King's Cup held on the August Bank Holiday piloted by W.L.Hope. Racing modifications visible are removal of the long exhaust pipe from the Cirrus I, the covered over front cockpit containing the main fuel tank, and the special cover for the rear cockpit leaving a smaller opening for the pilot's head. On 21.7.28 Hope again won, this time in DH60G G-EBYZ, making the Moth winner of the King's Cup race for three years in succession.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-AAIM   [2]

G-AAIM DH60G c/n 1153, 'Arom II' of the Shell Company, with close-cowled Hermes engine and coupe hood. The LH induction manifold and faired-over carburetter can be seen, but the RH exhaust pipe feeds into the cowling and across the bulkhead to emerge by the first centresection strut and run down the left side. Fully-enclosed cowlings on the Cirrus and Cirrus-Hermes allowed cooling air to escape through louvres in the sides as seen here.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-AAKJ   [2]

Cirrus III Moth G-AAKJ c/n 1162 had a fully-enclosed cowling and was owned by the Anglo American Oil Company. The fuel trade name 'High Test' can be seen on the cowl in the original photograph. The fairings over the RH carburetter and the intake hole at the right front together indicate the Cirrus. The 'square' cockpit openings and divided undercarriage became standard by the late production Cirrus III Moth, final version of the DH60X.

  • Регистрационный номер: G-AAKJ   [2]

G-AAKJ seen from the LH side during the visit to Haldon at which it was reported as a Gipsy Moth. The RH tractor rotation metal prop, LH exhaust manifold and lack of a carburetter or intake on the left side identify it as a Cirrus engine and the exhaust pipe passing inside the first strut confirms it as a Cirrus III. The oil company's trade name 'Pratts' is visible on the rudder in the original photo.

G-AAIM 'Arom II' with the coupe hood removed and slots fitted, but otherwise the same, being refuelled at the Shell filling point outside the Desoutter hangar at Croydon. The exhaust manifold on the RH side is seen with the pipe feeding down into the cowling and across the bulkhead where it is out of the way of the refueller using the RH step. The RH door can be seen in the open position and in the original photo the covered RH tractor propeller can be identified.

G-AADK c/n 921 of the Singapore Flying Club as later fitted locally with a Hermes and wingtip slots. The right hand non-standard exhaust is brought down the side to an outlet at the bottom, but may have been unsatisfactory as other Singapore Club Moths converted to Hermes had stub exhausts.
