Регистрационный номер: M-MWAA [2] The first Dornier Wal, c/n 1 M-MWAA (two 300 hp Hispano-Suiza 42 eight-cyl upright vee water-cooled engines) moored out while in Spanish Navy service. An initial batch of six was built for Spain in 1922/3. It no longer carries the registration but has its Navy serial W-1 on the tail.

Регистрационный номер: I-DAOR C/n 16 I-DAOR was fitted with Rolls-Royce Eagle IX engines and is seen while taking part in a series of flights during which it broke a number of world records for speed and weight-carrying in its class. The small aerofoils fore and aft of the sponsons to keep spray off the propellers were not very effective and only a few early Wals had them.

Регистрационный номер: I-DOOR, D-1012, P-BAAA C/n 17 (RR Eagle IX) was the first cabin Wal and it carried out its flight trials as I-DOOR before delivery to Germany as D-1012. The square-tipped parasol wing had a centre section cutout for the rear engine's propeller.

Регистрационный номер: N24, N25 [4], D-1422 [4], G-EBQO [4] The two Do J Wals used by the 1925 Roald Amundsen expedition which attempted to fly to the North Pole. N-24 and N-25 are seen together on Polar ice but unfortunately N-24 had to be abandoned at over 87"N when the attempt ended.
