The Morane-Saulnier MS 30 was a single-seat parasol monoplane but despite appearances it was not an operational type. The E.1 suffix to the type number indicated that is was a single-seat trainer and this example carries the MS c/n 3786. Why it should be carrying a camouflage colour scheme is obscure.

Visiting Blackbushe for the Farnborough Air Show in, we think, 1953, is this pristine PBY-5A Catalina of Flottille 1S of the French Navy.

Maintaining flying boats in the depths of winter was no sinecure. Catalina IVA JX251 of No. 131 Operational Training Unit is seen sitting amongst the ice floes at Killadeas, on Lough Erne, in Northern Ireland.

Little is known of the career of Kingfisher FN659 and in this photo does not appear to have any coding. From the background, it would appear to be at Lee-on-Solent.

The Savoia-Marchetti SM 102 was an Anson-style light transport used by the Italian Air Force in the years after the end of World War Two. One was based at Bovingdon for the use of the Italian Air Attache but we do not think it was this one.

Several countries had a stab at triplane fighters, not all with conspicuous success. This example was the Nieuport 11C, first flown in August 1916. It had a synchronised Lewis gun but was not accepted. Oddly, two example were obtained by the RFC, A5886 and B6688 (A6686 ???), and it is the latter seen in this photo. The Lewis has been replaced by a Vickers gun and the large streamlined spinner has been removed. They were tested at Martlesham Heath but their performance (they had 120 hp and 110 hp Le Rhone engines respectively) was below contemporary biplanes.
