Регистрационный номер: F-ANPY, G-ACSR In the Winter 2000 issue, we mentioned a French D.H.88 Comet, one of two purchased by the French Government. Initially registered F-ANPY and F-ANPZ, they had an elongated nose intended for mail-carrying which also carried a small generator propeller as can be seen in the photo sent in by Vernon Clarkson.

Регистрационный номер: F-ANPZ F-ANPZ later took up the military code '09' and both were used for radio research, among other things, which possibly accounts for the elongated 'mail compartment'.

Регистрационный номер: F-ABFR The umbrella wing design was not a success and a new upper wing was fitted to the LeO 4/1 with a new fin and rudder. However, its performance was below that of other contenders for the contract and it remained a one-off, later being registered F-ABFR.
Although it bore a resemblance to the 1 1/2-Strutter, it differed in several ways (apart from the bizarre wings).Самолёты на фотографии: Liore et Olivier LeO 4 - Франция - 1916
