D.H.9 D5816 was ordered from Waring & Gillow but was sub-contracted to Wells Aviation. It was a presentation aircraft, 'Faridkot No.3' but the name seems to have blended in with the white nose. It served with No.206 Squadron on the Western Front. Under the gunner's cockpit is the inscription V/2 3816'. What did this mean and why is the forward fuselage white?
