  • U.S.A.A.F. photo published in 1943 of camera equipment found in a Junkers Ju 88A-1 reconnaissance plane brought down over Iceland. Contrary to a report made in 1945, this particular Ju 88 was capable of carrying two cameras - one with a 12-in. focal length and the other with a wide-angle lens - but it was noted that the "camera equipment occupied the entire bomb bay"

  • Among the advanced reconnaissance projects developed by the Germans was the DFS 228 rocket-powered glider which, carried on the back of a Dornier Do 217 for the first stage of its flight, was expected to reach a height of 75,000 ft. It did not enter operational service.

  • Трофейный представитель самого многочисленного варианта этого самолета - Ar 234B-2. Над кабиной возвышается обтекатель перископа, предназначенного для обзора задней полусферы.
Much more successful was the jet-propelled Arado Ar 234 which carried out a number of reconnaissance flights along the East Coast of Britain in late 1944 and early 1945. It was hoped that the Ar 234s might also report on V-weapon damage
