Регистрационный номер: K2235 NOT A NEW TYPE OF "MOTH" SEAPLANE: This photograph shows the force-recording undercarriage used at Felixstowe for taxying tests of large-scale models of flying-boat hulls (in this case that of a Short "Singapore II").
Between August 1933 and December 1933 a 1 to 2.4 scale model of the hull of a Singapore IIA was fitted to Moth K2235 at Felixstowe to test various methods of lift measuring dynamometers (see picture). The hull was free to move fore-and-aft in relation to the fuselage by means of four parallel swinging struts. It tended to porpoise at high taxying speeds but handling in flight was good. Landings had to be fast and the nose kept well down to avoid violent porpoising but the main aim of the trials, instrumentation, was successful. A similar experiment with a larger hull was later carried out on a Short Scion Senior.Самолёты на фотографии: De Havilland Moth Seaplane - Великобритания - 1926
