NKC-135A 55-3125, still sporting the short fin carried by early production aircraft, was parked conveniently close to the fence during the 1966 Armed Forces Day display. It carries the badge of the Rome Air Development Center on its nose. Just visible in the distance, beneath the aircraft's tailplane, is the composite T-33A which was still in use for fire practice.

Unlike the C-97A illustrated in Part Three, the aircraft here is one of the "second generation" of ANG Stratofreighter transports, all of which had previously served as tankers with SAC. Former KC-97G 53-0162 was transferred from the 4081st ARW at Ernest Harmon AFB, Newfoundland to the 109th ATS Minnesota ANG at Minneapolis in October 1963. Following modification to the airlift role as a C-97G, it would remain with the 109th until retired to MASDC in March 1971. The aircraft is seen visiting Mildenhall on 21st June 1965.

C-123B 4540 entered US Coast Guard service in 1958, one of eight former USAF Providers that would serve at remote locations for LORAN calibration duties. Two were placed at Naples, two at San Juan (Puerto Rico), two at Kodiak (Alaska) and two on Guam (Marianas). During the 1960s Mildenhall, Northolt, Prestwick and London's Gatwick Airport would all receive occasional visits from the Naples-based aircraft. This picture was taken at Gatwick in July 1968.

Anonymous-looking 51-7210, seen here at Prestwick in September 1965, was one of about eight HU-16B Albatross amphibians still assigned to the 135th Air Commando Squadron at Baltimore, MD at that time. The unit would continue to operate these aircraft on special operations duties until it transitioned to the C-7A Caribou in 1971.

C-141A 63-8090 had been in service with the 1501st Air Transport Wing for just four weeks before its appearance at the 1965 Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, where it is seen in this picture. It had been accepted at Lockheed's Marietta, GA factory on 13th April and then delivered to Travis AFB, CA on 14th May.

61-0282 was the first EC-135H to be delivered to the 7120th ACCS at Mildenhall, arriving on 2nd November 1965, although this picture was taken after May 1969 when the aircraft became the first to receive the black ARC-96 saddle antenna on the fuselage roof. It was not until the end of the decade that these aircraft began receiving the more familiar "white top" colour-scheme. The outline marking on the fin was standard for the port side of all C-135s at that time. The fin could be tilted through 90 degrees to starboard for maintenance in hangars that were otherwise too low to accommodate the aircraft. The lines showed the area that could be safely walked on in that configuration.

Still wearing the badge of the 301st ARW at Lockbourne AFB, OH, EC-135A 61-0293 is seen here during its time with the 7120th ACCS at Mildenhall. The aircraft joined the squadron as a temporary measure on 9th November 1965 and would remain until early 1968 when the last of the five EC-135Hs was finally delivered.
