Halifax II W7773 photographed in July 1942. Inset, the author in the left hand seat of a Halifax.
Along with the Avro Lancaster, the four-engined Handley Page Halifax was at the cutting edge of bomber technology on its introduction into RAF service in November 1940. This series of photographs was taken from Halifax II JP193 on January 6, 1944 during a landing approach into Leavesden. The pilot was T. W. Morton. Note the Leavesden-built Mosquitoes awaiting collection by the ATA in the bottom photograph.
