The uncluttered, elegant lines of VN799 as the author manoeuvres it toward the tail turret of an RAE Avro Lancaster, during a photographic sortie on August 23, 1949. In the turret were photographers Charles Sims of The Aeroplane and John Yoxall of Flight, but there is no record of which of them took this shot.
The prototype B3/45 shows off its plan view in a vertically banked turn on the opening day of the 1949 Farnborough show.
