Superb photograph of Hawker Hart Trainer K6426 in company with Vickers Vildebeests. This Hart flew with the Straits Settlements Volunteer Air Force until it crashed during an aerobatic display at Penang airfield on March 6, 1938.

39 Sqn Hawker Hart K2114 photographed at Risalpur, India in 1937. This Hart later passed to 1 SFTS and was destroyed in a crash near Ambala on August 3, 1942. K2114 was part of a batch of Harts supplied to the RAF in India between September 1931 and May 1932.

39 Sqn Hawker Hart K2131 after an incident at Risalpur, India in 1937. The Hart was repaired and later passed to 60 Sqn. It ended its days with 1 SFTS, being struck off RAF charge in July 1944.

Short Singapore III K3592, delivered to the RAF in July 1934, served initially as a trials aircraft with the MAEE before being delivered to 210 Sqn. Later the 'boat moved to 205 Sqn and was taken off RAF charge in December 1937.

Short Singapore III K4581 was another ’boat from a batch of nine supplied to the RAF during 1935. It first flew with 230 Sqn and then passed to 205 Sqn. It was taken off RAF charge in March 1938. The Singapore III was the immediate predecessor of the Sunderland and was the last of the long line of Short biplane flyingboats.

Singapore III K4577 of No 203 Sqn on the step while taking off from Basra in August 1939. The type’s first overseas posting was with No 230 Sqn to Alexandria, Egypt, in January 1935, and the Singapore IIIs of Nos 209 and 210 Sqns were used for anti-piracy patrols from Malta to protect British shipping during the Spanish Civil War.
Short Singapore III K4577 was one of a batch of nine delivered to the RAF between April and August 1935.
