Rudderless Lancaster G-AKAB, ex-PP739, at Dunsfold in October 1948. PP739 was civilianised in late 1947 for Skyways. All three turrets were retained and the aircraft, appropriately named Sky Trainer, was used for crew training at Skyways' Dunsfold base until dismantled there in November 1948.

Avro 691 Lancastrian G-AGLS landing at Heathrow in March 1949. Ex-VD238 and registered to BOAC in March 1945, 'LS was named Nelson. It made the first westbound flight of the BOAC/QANTAS Kangaroo service, flown by Capt E. Palmer on June 2, 1945. The inaugural flight from the UK was made in G-AGLV on May 31. G-AGLS also made the first all-cargo flight on this route, on December 2, 1947. The aircraft was scrapped at Hurn in January 1951. The Lancastrian 1 had a crew of five and carried nine passengers.

Avro Lancaster G-AGUJ, ex-PP689, is seen at Heathrow in December 1949. One of 300 built by Vickers-Armstrongs at Castle Bromwich in 1945, it was registered to British South American airways in March 1946 and was named Star Pilot. Devoid of the Lancastrian's fuselage windows and lacking a tail cone, 'UJ was used for flying freight, mostly perishable goods, for about a year. In September 1949 it was acquired by BOAC but was dismantled at Langley three months later.

British South American Airways Corporation's Avro 691 Lancastrian 3 G-AGWL photographed at Heathrow in August 1948. The Mk 3 carried five crew and 13 passengers and BSAA's Lancastrian fleet was initially operated on the South American service. In January 1949 'WL was sold to the Tarrant Rushton-based Flight Refuelling Ltd. In company with a dozen other Lancastrians it was fitted with sufficient tankage to carry up to 2,500gal of liquid fuel for use on the Berlin Airlift.

Avro Lancastrian 2 G-AKSN seen at Blackbushe in February 1949. Built for the RAF as VD973, it joined the Skyways fleet as Sky Consort and was used on the Berlin Airlift.

Avro 683 Lancaster G-AGUM, ex-PP751, seen at Heathrow in October 1949. It was registered to BSAA in May 1946 and was named Star Ward Following a short period as a freighter with the company, 'UM went to Airtech Ltd at Thame, were it was fitted with an enormous belly pannier for carrying vehicles and odd-shaped loads during the Berlin Airlift.
