A Metropolitan Communications Flight (formerly 31 Sqn) D.H. Devon C.1 together with the Nash Collection's Sopwith Camel F6314 / “H508” at Hendon on the “last day” of RAF operational flying, November 4, 1957. Forty years on, the Camel is now part of the RAF Museum collection, situated yards from where this photograph was taken.

Another view of Anson TX214 taken on November 4, 1957, before its departure for its new base at Northolt. TX214 soldiered on until 1963, when it was grounded and given the maintenance serial 7817M.

One can almost hear the two Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah engines growling as Avro Anson C.19 TX214 flies low past the control tower at RAF Hendon in the gloom of November 4, 1957, shortly before departing to its new base at nearby Northolt.
Avro XIX TX214 one of the last RAF aircraft to fly out of Hendon on November 2, 1957, when it was officially closed for flying.
