Possibly inspired by knowledge of the Junkers Ju 287 and the results of testing the second prototype, several designers in the Soviet Union studied the swept-forward wing configuration by means of full-scale gliders launched from "mother" aircraft. This illustration show one of the gliders tested, designed by V P Tsibin.

There is renewed interest in the swept-forward wing as a result of recent studies by Grumman and others. This is an impression of a highly-manoeuvrable supersonic "cruiser" by Grumman.

Junkers Ju 287 - 1944 год. Ju 287 создавался как скоростной реактивный тяжелый бомбардировщик, в конструкции которого доктор Ханс Вокке решил применить крыло обратной стреловидности, считая, что это позволит существенно повысить подъемную силу на малых скоростях полета и даст преимущества в сравнении с крылом прямой стреловидности на режимах взлета и посадки. Первый прототип, Ju 287 V1, облетали 16 апреля 1944 года, до конца войны было выполнено 17 полетов. А вот Ju 287 V2 достраивался уже ОКБ-1 под обозначением EF-131 (на фото).

Interest in the swept-forward wing lingered on in Germany after World War II and it was applied to the HFB-320 Hansa Jet to obtain an uninterrupted main cabin and a good CG range. Fifty examples were built.
