Fighter A to Z
The F-104G Starfighter provided the fighter backbone of NATO for some 20 years, but now serves only with the Greek, Italian, Turkish and (as the CF-104) Canadian members.
Only three examples of the YF-12A were built, these being engaged in research programmes until 1979.
The Loening M-8 two-seat fighter was to have been built in large numbers at the end of WWl, but the Armistice resulted in contract termination, small numbers subsequently being built for the US Navy.
The PW-2 as originally delivered with twin vertical tail surfaces
An example PW-2A modified for racing.
The sole PW-2B with smaller wing and Packard engine.
The standard PW-2A. Six of the nine PW-2As were cancelled when the type proved susceptible to wing flutter.
