В 1939 году появился аэродинамически более совершенный V-12 с мотором Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp. Одну машину заказал Китай; на самолет, получивший обозначение V-12C, установили мотор Wright Cyclone 9 мощностью 1050 л. с. Вооружение состояло из двух 12,7-мм пулеметов и четырех пулеметов калибра 7,62 мм, во внутреннем отсеке можно было подвесить бомбы массой до 490 кг.
В Китае на заводе CAMCO по лицензии собрали еще 25 V-12C, прежде чем внимание китайцев привлек V-12D с более мощным мотором. V-12D отличался новым фюзеляжем и мотором Wright GR-2600-A5B мощностью 1600 л. с.; вооружение аналогично V-12C.
Два эталона Китай получил из США, после чего по лицензии планировалось собрать 50 самолетов. Когда завод CAMCO разрушила японская авиация, незаконченные V-12D перевезли в Бангалор, Индия, где часть из них собрали работники «Hindustan Aircraft» и вернули в Китай.

This cutaway drawing reveals the structure and equipment of the V-12-C manufactured for the Chinese National Government. By comparision with the original V-12 prototype, the V-12-C featured a shorter-chord engine cowling enclosing the single-row radial of the latter, and revised windscreen and canopy framing.
