B.Hales-Dutton - Flybe Reaches New Heights /Commercial/
It was announced in November that Flybe intends to buy BA Connect and would dispose of the latter's fleet. The move will increase Flybe's presence in its core market of the UK's regions and at the same time make it Europe's largest regional airline. Pictured is a BA Connect Embraer ERJ-145.
Flybe is the first airline to introduce the Embraer 195 and has ordered 14 of the type with another 12 on option. The carrier is keen to point out the high comfort factor of the aircraft as well as the fact that is one of the most environmentally efficient airliners.
Since its founding in 1979, the airline has had a number of name changes and liveries. This Shorts 360 is pictured wearing Jersey European titles and livery. The carrier later adopted the name British European, though its current title is Flybe.
In addition to the Embraer 195s, Flybe is in the process of receiving 45 Bombardier Dash 8-400s. It also holds options for another 16 of these aircraft.
