A production-type Hawker Hurricane eight-gun fighter monoplane taken over the vertical by Flt. Lt. Philip Lucas. Points to note are the ejector-type exhausts, which improve performance, and the revised tail with additional keel surface under the fuselage.
Hawker Hurricane I L1648 of 85 Sqn never had the chance to outmanoeuvre a Bf 109: it was damaged following a landing overshoot at RAF Debden in October 1938.
