A mixed formation of a Canberra from No.13 Squadron leading two Buccaneers of No.12 Squadron and three Lightnings of No.5 Squadron over Valetta. Sliema Creek is in the centre and the old submarine base at Manoel Island on the left. The moorings were on the left of the island, the south side, but when things got hot, the boats used to go out into the harbour and submerge to get some peace.

Peter Green has sent in the photograph of a Vincent which he copied from a Box Brownie-type print and blew up.
The six-bladed propeller mounted in front of the observer's cockpit is not, as might be thought at first glance, a target-towing winch. It is almost certainly a wind-driven pump for the anti-locust spray employed by the Anti-Locust Flight against, we are reasonably certain, locusts. Although the serial cannot be seen, it has 'C' type roundels so is seen after mid-1942.

The photograph shows a Dominie in some trouble. The serial can be deciphered as R9551 of No.1 Camouflage Unit, originally No.1 Camouflage Flight at Hendon whose job it was to check on the efficiency of concealment of airfields, factories, etc.
