    One of a series taken for British Airways using the Astrovision system, with cameras operating through a periscope system in the floor of a Learjet. Alone in the British Airways fleet, Concorde has an overall white finish, adopted in view of its operations at very high altitudes; in other respects, the markings conform to British Airways’ standard scheme.

    Concorde 204 - the production standard aircraft used by British Airways for the endurance flying programme last summer and, after being refurbished to full service standard by BAC at Filton, the second example available to the airline for revenue service, as a back-up to Concorde 206.

    Concorde 204 takes off from London Airport, Heathrow. Afterburners are lit and the nose is in the intermediate (-5deg) droop position with visor fully down, used for taxying and take-off.

    Concorde 206, the first British Airways revenue service aircraft, lands at Fairford, the BAC Concorde test centre, at the conclusion of its first flight, following take-off from Filton, Bristol. The visor is down and the nose is fully drooped (-17 1/2 deg) for best forward visibility in the approach configuration, at high angles of incidence. Concorde 202 is in the background.

  • Concorde 205 in its new Air France livery. First flown on 25 October 1975, this is the aircraft with which Air France was to inaugurate services on the route Paris-Dakar-Rio on 21 January.

  • The interior of Concorde 204 - as used for the endurance programme, looking aft. In high density layouts, up to 128 passengers can he carried; the standard British Airways configuration provides 100 passenger seats, four-abreast throughout, with six cabin attendants.

  • The flight deck of Concorde 206. Each pilot has a full set of flying instruments, and essential engine indicators are grouped in the centre of the panel. Navigation and communications control boxes are between the two seats, together with the master throttles. Standard Concorde flight crew comprises two pilots and a systems manager (who may be pilot-trained or engineer-trained according to airline preference).
