Lightning F.53 ZF580 first flew on November 28, 1967 and saw service with the Royal Saudi Air Force as 53-672 and later as 204/’D’. Following the disbandment of the RSAF Lightning force it flew to BAe Warton on January 14, 1986 and, after failing to find a buyer, was refurbished and transferred to BAe’s Samlesbury site on August 17, 1990 where it is now displayed as a gate guardian.
