First prototype of the NH90, F-ZWTH, made its 40 minute maiden flight on December 18, 1995, at the Eurocopter plant in Marignane, France.

Roll out of the first prototype on September 29, 1995. The probe on the nose of the helicopter is for flight test purposes only and will not be fitted on production aircraft. The rather conservative design belies its state of the art technology features.

An early mock-up of the NFH variant, together with an AM 39 Exocet air-to-surface anti-ship missile. Exocet is just one of the weapons that may be carried for ASuW sorties. Other missions that will be performed by the naval variant are SAR, ASW and VERTREP.
