Beech F33A Bonanza ME-035 is one of 11 operated by the Escuadron Basico at Veracruz as follow-on trainers after the Maule before students progress to the Beech Baron. Six F33Cs are supplemented by five F33As and most types now wear this new blue/yellow scheme introduced last year and incorporating two crossed anchors behind the roundel. For training aircraft, yellow is the predominant colour with the blue secondary whilst on operational aircraft this is reversed.

Sabreliner 60 MTX-01 seen at Mexico City in January 1995 is the sole example of the type in Armada service and operates as part of the mixed fleet of transport types operated by 2 EA.

Seen here at Glasgow/Abbotsinch Airport on March 23, 1986 on their delivery flight from the factory in Seville to the Armada de Mexico are five of the ten CASA C.212-200s ordered the previous year for maritime patrol duties to replace the ageing Albatrosses. Aircraft MP-111, -112 and -113 were destined for 1 Escuadron Aeronaval (EA) at Chetumal whilst MP-311 and -312 went to 3 EA at Veracruz. The type is also used for parachute training by the Navy’s infantry.

Maule MX-7-180 ME-102 is one of 12 of the type used for basic training by the Escuadron Primario of the Escuela de Aviacion Naval at Veracruz. Although the type has been produced in large numbers, Mexico is believed to be the only country using the type for military pilot training, for which it has proved well suited. However, cross-wind landings can be tricky and one aircraft was written-off last year when it ground looped.

Eurocopter AS 555AF Fennec MR-157 is one of two acquired in May 1992 for SAR missions, disaster relief and civil aid operations. Based at Veracruz with 1 EAEPM, they wear a unique two-tone blue colour scheme.
