    View of Tipsy G-AFJR. After the war in went to the Barton Flying Group as a Tipsy Trainer and was seen in that form at Baginton on 13.7.57. However, by the following summer it had been converted to Belfair standard with enclosed cockpit.

    G-AFIR was the first homebuilt Luton Minor to be completed, built by Mr Squires and flown in 1938. It is shown here in post-war configuration with a JAP engine replacing the original Anzani at a Panshanger Open Day about 1966. It later moved to Fairoaks where it was wfu on 9.4.72.

    This late production Vega Gull, G-AFIE, was initially sold to Smith's Aircraft Instruments Ltd and based at Hatfield. On October 10, 1940 it was destroyed during a German air raid on Hendon aerodrome.
    Vega Gull G-AFIE which was used by Smith's Aircraft Industries as a wartime communications aircraft in civil marks until destroyed in 1940.

    Another Wicko in military guise but on close examination G-AFKK can be seen to be wearing the 'last two' 'KK' on the rear fuselage. It was photographed in 1940 some time before impressment 5.41 as Warferry ES913 and may have been the aircraft prepared to challenge for the ATA contract won by the Fairchild Argus. In comparison with the postwar shot of G-AFJB note the standard tailskid, mass balanced rudder and spats. ES913 was soc 29.12.42 and reduced to spares at Barnstaple.

    The third Wicko in this edition but a most unusual photograph of a modified production GM.1 with a ski undercarriage. Known as the Wicko "Snowbird", G-AFKS is shown posing with designer Geoffrey Wickner at Eastleigh in December 1938.
