    Cierva C.19 G-ABXG in a pond near Hanworth. Could this be the site of its demise in March 1937?
    Cierva C.19 G-ABXG c/n 5157 did hit trees when landing at Hanworth on 25.4.37 and ended up in the Queen's River, also known as the Cardinal's River. Pilot was joint owner John Alexander Macmullen, Britain's oldest at 73 according to the Daily Mirror, who with passenger Provis was only slightly injured.

    This Lockheed airliner came to earth at Billings on 8.7.38 and a man with a paintbrush had been swiftly called in to obliterate traces of its ownership.

    8.7.38 Lockheed 14H of Northwest Airlines was NC17383 c/n 1402 operating Seattle - Chicago service crashed on takeoff from Billings at 0255 when stops on propeller pitch controls prevented full fine pitch being achieved for take-off. It stalled and crashed beyond the runway into a group of pine trees on a canyon rim. One passenger was killed, two seriously injured, five more and two crew only slightly injured.
