The unidentified gift Spitfire at Cordoba 1948/9.
Aeroplane November 28th 1947 *p.693 - In a review of Argentina's Aviation Exhibition being held in Buenos Aires, was a reference to a Spitfire and a Hurricane being on display. "They had been presented by our Air Ministry as of historical war interest". Identities and fates?
A: 28.11.47 p.693: The Spitfire and Hurricane were displayed at the Exposicion Aeronautica in Avenida 9 de Julio, Buenos Aires in late September 1947. No identity is known to have been carried, though the Spitfire is thought to have been a Mk.V. After the exhibition it was taken to the Escuela de Suboficiales de Aeronautica in Cordoba where Argentine insignia were painted on the fuselage and tail although RAF roundels were retained under the wings. In 1950 it went to the Universidad Nacional of La Planta where it was used as an instructional airframe for aeronautical engineering courses. Suffering damage over the years, it was placed in store at Magdalena, Province of Buenos Aires, in 1966 and was finally sold as scrap in 1978.Самолёты на фотографии: Supermarine Spitfire Mk.V - Великобритания - 1941

Регистрационный номер: G-26-1, G-AKEY Slingsby Motor Tutor with the manufacturer's test marking G-26-1 . It can be seen to be basically a Tutor glider with a 37hp JAP engine and an Auster-style undercarriage added.
Aeroplane December 5th 1947 *p.731 - The Slingsby Motor-Tutor was announced - interestingly designated S-28 rather than the currently accepted T.29. About to fly, the first two would be powered by 25hp Coventry Victor engines - it was noted that suitable engines were in short supply. Other engines likely to be used (since the type would be provided in kit form) were the Aero Engines Sprite and the Wren III. It is usually stated that the Motor Tutor first flew in December 1947 with a Scott A2S as the T.29A. And whatever did become of the prototype, later G-AKEY, allegedly sold in the Bahamas in 1962?
A: 5.12.47 p.731: The Motor Tutor first flew as the T.29A with a Scott Squirrel engine in original B Conditions marks as AB-1. Re-engined with a 37 hp JAP as the T.29B it was marked G-26-1, later becoming G-AKEY. C/n was 544.Самолёты на фотографии: Slingsby T.29 Motor-Tutor - Великобритания - 1947

Регистрационный номер: G-AFZE Parker's Heath Parasol G-AFZE being flown for the first time at Elstree 9.1.49 by Colin Debenham.
Flight October 16th 1947 *p.452 - A brief photo article on a Heath Parasol built by Mr R Henry Parker in his back garden at a cost of £100. Powered by a Blackburn Tomtit, bought second hand at £10. The aircraft had detachable wings to enable it to be towed by car to the nearest airfield. The photo showed the aircraft, with Parker, complete but without markings. This would be G-AFZE, allocated in 1939 but according to Ken Ellis' British Homebuilt Aircraft it was originally commenced in 1936 by Putnam Aircraft and did not fly until 1949 - did it really take this length of time?
F: 16.10.47 p.452: Robert Henry Parker's Heath Parasol G-AFZE was indeed many years in the making. It first flew at Elstree 9.1.49 piloted by Colin Debenham with a 696cc Blackburne Tomtit 2-cyl inverted vee engine. After sale to F.G.Lowe a 32 hp Bristol Cherub III 2-cyl horizontally opposed engine was substituted.Самолёты на фотографии: Heath Parasol - США - 1926
