S.79 I-ABNF, a bomber with its armament removed, still retains its military camouflage. The D/F (direction finder) loop was fitted to many S.79 bombers and was not a special installation.

The twin engine S.79B prototype I-AYRE had a nose bomb-aimer's panel but still carried the ventral bathtub for its under-gun position. The opposite-handed propellers were on the prototype only.
