The 7th 1943 Sunderland III/Hythe was G-AGHV "Hamble". Here it is just 'off the step' at Hythe in 1946, flap at one-third setting for take off.

Hythe G-AGJO "Honduras" was one of those used by QANTAS in Australia, still in BOAC markings. It was the last to return but was struck by an unknown vessel while moored, causing it to break away and become damaged beyond repair at Hythe 21.2.49.

G-AGJN "Hudson" moored to a buoy in Poole Harbour has embarked crew members from the launch alongside. One is in the nose mooring compartment and a pilot is wiping the inside of the windscreen prior to starting up. It will then be taxied to the loading bay ready to take on luggage and freight followed by the full crew and passengers.

G-AGWW was a Hythe type airframe but Shorts fitted it out with a Sandringham interior and registered it as a Sandringham. It was sold to the Uruguayan airline CAUSA as CX-AFA in 1947

G-AHER "Helmsdale" was used by BOAC as a freighter. It was not a complete conversion, the open bomb doors, for example, showing as the black area under the wing. The extra passenger windows were not incorporated. This was one of the batch acquired by Aguila.

Sunderland III/Hythe G-AGHW "Hamilton" moored at Hythe wears RAF markings with the wartime code OQZC. It survived the war, only to crash 19.11.47 on the Isle of Wight.

The third Sunderland III conversion G-AGET served from 2.42 to 15.2.46. Seen here as RAF code OQZT, it was never named and was burned out at Calcutta after a fire started during refuelling.

Still with BOAC in 1947, G-AGJM now carries smaller lettering. "Hythe" was one of 12 that went to Aquilla in 1948-49 and was scrapped with five others in January 1952.

G-AGHZ "Hawkesbury", one of the original 1943 conversions, demonstrating its capabilities on 22.5.46 by flying on two with the inner engines stopped and the propellers feathered.

The capacious inside of an RAF Sunderland, showing the two decks. This was readily adapted to the two decks of passenger seating and associated facilities.
