First of eight Bell 212s for the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), 724 was delivered on 16th October. It and three others have pop-out floats and will be used for offshore oil support. Two 212s will be employed on geophysical work and two on forestry operations

Panavia Tornado F.2 first prototype, ZA254, on its maiden flight from BAe Warton, 27th October, 1979, during which it reached Mach 1.2 while carrying four Sky Flash missiles. Efforts are now being made to get the first of 165 Tornado F.2s for the R.A.F. into service earlier than the planned date of 1984.
