Prominent at the "Open Day" held by the U.S. Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, Maryland, on 5th October 1979 was the McDonnell Douglas F-18A Hornet, 160779 (foreground). Immediately behind it is the first prototype AV-8B Advanced Harrier, 158394. Other types on view include an A-4 Skyhawk, A-7 and TA-7 Corsair IIs, A-6 Intruder, F-4 Phantom, F-14 Tomcat, KA-3 tanker version of the Destroyer (nose just visible on left), S-3 Viking and a couple of P-3 Orions.

A visitor to Canadian AFB Namao, Edmonton, in August was this U.S.A.F. Martin EB-57B Canberra, 21503, of the 158th Defense System Evaluation Group, Vermont ANG, Burlington. The 158th call themselves "The Green Mountain Boys".
