Now with mainwheel leg fairings and wheel spats refitted, F-WFDX is repainted and on public display next to a Macchi MB.320. Note the wing droop with the leading edges aligned.

A revealing overhead view of F-WFDX shows the joints of the flexible wing with plain flaps and mass-balanced ailerons outboard. Even with the fixed spatted undercarriage the clean lines of the design are evident.

The Rey R1-01 with engines running as it first flew with normal fixed wing having marked dihedral. Lines are painted on each side of where the wing joint will be on the flexible wing.

This airborne view of the R1 shows the positions of the observer and pilot in their enclosed cockpits and mass balances can be seen on the ailerons. The wheel spats have been removed during testing for convenience during daily servicing inspections.

The Rey R1 flying over with spin recovery parachute deployed. This is probably a demonstration fly-by since when used for spin recovery the parachute is normally jettisoned on resuming level flight.

A good view of the two engine nacelles with carburetter intakes and six exhaust stubs on the outsides and oil cooler underneath.

Rey R1 F-WFDX airborne with the flexible wing fitted. New oval fins of a considerably increased area have been fitted on the ends of the dihedralled tailplane and the nose boom pitot has been changed to a twin tube type.

The Rey R1-01 on public display at Melun-Villaroche in July 1951. The crowd seem to be more interested elsewhere, prophetic, it must be concluded, of the end for Rey's flexible wing concept.
