Twin Pioneer VR-OAE c/n 517 was the Borneo Airways aircraft that force-landed in a jungle swamp 7.9.63 with 14 on board and was written off.
7.9.63 Twin Pioneer VR-OAE c/n 517 of Borneo Airways with Capt Baker and 13 others on board force-landed in jungle clearing near Sibu, Sarawak when attempting to return to airport with starboard propeller feathered following engine fire warning. Insufficient height, rising ground and the need to adjust course made it impossible to reach the airport. No injuries but aircraft written-off.

Bristol Freighter 32 G-AMWA c/n 13073 of British United Air Ferries, seen here on trials before delivery to Silver City 1953, had a loss of power on take-off from Guernsey 24.9.63. It was closed down but overshot the boundary and was written off in the resultant crash.
24.9.63 British United Air Ferries Bristol Freighter 32 G-AMWA c/n 12073 carrying mainly freight, lost power on take-off from Guernsey due to a faulty boost control capsule. Take off was abandoned but the aircraft overshot the airfield boundary by some 200 yards. Capt C Helliwell, First Officer John Pothecary and Flight Assistant J Selby were unhurt, as was the sole passenger John Thompson who was in a rearward-facing seat, although his car was wrecked. The Freighter was extensively damaged and was written-off.

Indian Airlines Viscount 768 VT-DIO at Blackbushe 29.8.57 was the aircraft which crashed near Lalitpur on 11.9.63.
11.9.63 Indian Airlines Corp Viscount 768D VT-DIO c/n 192 en route Nagpur - New Delhi dived steeply, crashed and burnt out at Patipura near Lalitpur, 32 miles south of Agra at about 0400. Thirteen passengers and five crew died.

Tiger Moth G-ACDC crashed nose-first at Rochester on 8.9.63 during a low level aerobatic display by Neville Browning and was seriously damaged but was rebuilt and is still airworthy in 2003. It is seen at Old Warden 27.7.69.

Airnautic's Viking Freighter F-BJER c/n 216 crashed in the Pyrenees 12.9.63 en route from Gatwick to Perpignan.
12.9.63 Viking 1B F-BJER c/n 216 of Airnautic, on charter flight from Gatwick to Perpignan with Capt Max Dunoyer, 3 crew and 36 passengers crashed in Pyrenees on 5,400 ft Pic de la Roquette near Prades in appalling weather conditions and burnt out. Site was 20 miles off track and aircraft had already passed Perpignan. Departure was 11.9.63 and crash at 2310 (GMT?) - which would be 0010 local on 12th.

Panamanian registered Globemaster I HP-385 which crashed into a hilltop near Marignane and burnt out 9.10.63.
9.10.63 Aeronaves de Panama Douglas C-74 Globemaster I HP-385 c/n 13915 "Heracles" operated for Aero Systems Inc, crashed on hilltop near Marignane and burnt out after take-off from Marseilles for Cairo carrying cattle from Denmark to Saudi Arabia. Capt N Annchiarco, crew of two, 3 Danish cattle handlers and the 30 (or 60?) cows were killed. A second Globemaster HP-379 was given the same name and paint scheme but was wfu 7.7.64 at Milan-Linate where it starred in "The Italian Job".

Piaggio P.136 c/n 101 I-FIMA was extensively damaged landing on the Solent 14.9.63
14.9.63 Piaggio P.136 amphibian I-FIMA c/n 101 owned by Alisud, two British crew Williamson and Salmond, extensive damage to hull, tailplane and port float during practice landing in the Solent off Lee-on-Solent when the aircraft porpoised.

SP-PAL was the first prototype OKL MD-12 (four 320 hp Narkiewicz WN-3 7-cyl radial engines) which was designed to carry 20 passengers and first flew 7.59. It crashed 17.9.63 on a test flight.
17.9.63 Crew of five killed in test flight of four-engined Polish airliner the prototype MD-12 SP-PAL c/n 01, developed from earlier twin-engined design. Built at WSK Okecie factory and f/f 21.7.59 it had four 320 hp Narkiewicz WN-3 7-cyl radial engines giving a cruise of 177 mph. Crash caused by tailplane flutter followed by structural failure. Pilots Milosz and Wasowicz, technicians Sajewska, Zupanski and Holowienko made up the bulk of the factory flight test personnel. The MD-12's regn was cancelled 25.9.63.
