The General Aircraft Owlet G-AGBK as first flown in a civil paint scheme with an instrument hood. It had 3-pane windscreens which were soon replaced by 1-piece frameless types

In a General Aircraft advertisement the Owlet is parked out at Hanworth in wet conditions with covers over the cockpits and propeller. The one-piece windscreens show up well.

The wind-driven propeller for charging the generator is at the outer end of the centre section leading edge on the starboard side just inboard of the wing joint sealing strap.

First demonstrated on a wet day with strong winds blowing, the Owlet, now in RAF camouflage and markings, still carries its civil registration G-AGBK on the fuselage.
In spite of the large dihedral angle of the wings, the Owlet is very stable in a cross wind.

The General Aircraft Owlet is designed as a "tricycle trainer needed by tricycle bombers."
In spite of a blustery wind, Mr. Hughesdon was able, thanks to the very effective controls, to do a banked turn close to the ground.
The Owlet in the demonstration by Hughesdon is positioned in a low flyby to show all of its main features, and smaller items such as the landing light in the port wing inboard leading edge.

Going the other way round, a side profile shows the lengthened rear fuselage and the good all-round view from the cockpits compared with that from the Tiger Moth standard trainer.

The only Owlet went on to serve the RAF as a tricycle conversion trainer but met its end during an aerobatic flight.

The Cirrus Major engine installation is very accessible when the engine cowling is removed. For inspection the cowling is merely hinged upwards.
A view with the cowlings removed shows the forward position of the Cirrus Major engine and behind it the oleo-pneumatic nosewheel leg extending up the front bulkhead.

The split trailing edge flaps are of all-metal construction.
Shown fully extended as for landing, the flaps are on the mainplanes only and when extended halfway in a 5 mph wind gave take-off in 210 yd and climb to 50 ft in 475 yd at full throttle.

The front cockpit (at the time of the three-piece windscreen) with limited panel instruments and compass in the cubby hole on the left. The throttle box on the left wall holds the engine controls and the fuel cock is out of sight on the right side, front cockpit only.
