United Arab Airlines' Comet 4C c/n 06441 SU-ALD taking off in 1960. On 28.7.63 as a result of severe turbulence in monsoon conditions it went out of control and crashed into the sea 11 miles west of Santa Cruz airport, Bombay, killing all 63 on board.
28.7.63 United Arab Airlines Comet 4C SU-ALD c/n 6441 en route Tokyo - Hong Kong - Bangkok - Bombay - Bahrain - Cairo crashed in sea nine miles west of Madh Island off Bombay on approach to Santa Cruz Airport in monsoon conditions. Capt Mahmoud Mohammed Shura, 7 crew and 55 passengers were on board. It was concluded that control of the aircraft was lost during a procedure turn in severe turbulence and heavy rain at 2020 local time and there were no survivors.
