Регистрационный номер: NX15544 [2] The Alcor C6-1 Junior Transport NX15544 during early engine runs of its two 260 hp Menasco C6S-4 six-cylinder engines, mounted on their sides like those on the Olympic Duo but in an airframe by a new company, the Alcor Aircraft Corporation, formed by Allan Loughead in 1937.

Регистрационный номер: NX15544 [2] The clean lines of the airframe are very apparent in this side view of the six-seat Alcor C6-1 with engines running before the sudden end to its short life. The aircraft designation is understood to have derived from Commercial, 6-seat, model 1. Indeed as a result of its early demise followed by that of the Alcor company, it was the only aircraft they produced.

Регистрационный номер: NC11043 Nine examples were built of the Granville Gee Bee Sportster single-seat monoplane, two of which were Model D with the Menasco C4 engine. These were (NC)855Y and, shown here, NC11043, the latter becoming Zantford Granville's personal aircraft.

Регистрационный номер: NX21725 [3] Первые полеты Lockheed Vega Starliner выполнил с однокилевым хвостовым оперением, но во время ремонта (после аварийной посадки из-за поломки винта) на самолете установили двухкилевое оперение.
The Starliner in its final form with single fin and rudder looks cleaner and has its name showing prominently on the nose, but it remained only a one-off prototype, ending its own line and that of the Menasco 6-cylinder engines.Самолёты на фотографии: Lockheed Vega Starliner - США - 1939

Регистрационный номер: NX21725 [3] The Starliner as first pushed out had a humped cabin and twin fin and rudder tail unit. The retractable tricycle undercarriage and large chin intake for the twin engine installation are clearly seen.

Регистрационный номер: NR255Y In 1934, Al Menasco got together with Lawrence Brown who produced the Brown B-2 "Miss Los Angeles" NR255Y No.33 with a Menasco C6S. Menasco is seen here with helmeted pilot Roy Minor and the B-2.

The Brown B-3 with Menasco C6S-4 and thin wing with Handley Page slots, here seen open with the aircraft on public display. The B-3 did not race but was used as a testbed and afterwards appeared in films as a fighter - representing both Spitfire and Bf 109!
The photo of the Brown B-3 racer on display with Handley Page slots is from the reviewer's collection and does not appear in the book The Golden Age of Air Racing, pre-1940, S.H.Schmid & Truman C. Weaver, but one of the complete aeroplane does.Самолёты на фотографии: Brown Racer / B-1 / B-2 - США - 1932

A close-up of the Menasco C6S in the nose of the Brown B-2 showing the Story 2-blade fixed-pitch right-hand tractor metal propeller with large spinner, the right side cooling air intake and the six exhaust stubs. The short stubs on the racers meant lots of noise!

Регистрационный номер: X926Y [4] Head-on view of the Olympic Duo shows the unique sideways-mounted twin Menasco engines and features such as the wing-supported wide track undercarriage and outwards-sloping cabin windows. The view was described as excellent. It was the only aircraft produced by the Loughead Brothers Aircraft Corp.

Регистрационный номер: X926Y [4] The Olympic Duo 4, reminiscent of a hammerhead shark with its paired 4-cyl Menasco B4 120 hp engines on their sides in the nose. The same airframe was used for the later Duo 6 with Menasco B6S 6-cyl engines installed.

Регистрационный номер: X926Y [4] The Duo 4 in the air shows that the airframe was similar to the Lockheed Vega except for the engine installation and the design of the wider track undercarriage.
