Based on the first photographs available to Western observers, this provisional three-view drawing depicts the Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot, one of the new generation of Soviet warplanes now coming into service. More reminiscent of the Northrop YA-9 prototypes than the Fairchild A-10A Thunderbolt II with which earlier reports had associated it, the Su-25 is a dedicated close-support attack aircraft, recently seen in action against Afghan guerillas from the airfield at Baghram.
